Kim Cattrall is reportedly returning as Samantha Jones in Sex and the City's sequel series for "personal closure" and so that fans can see the character one last time.
It was announced last week that the actor, 66, will appear in the second season of the spin-off And Just Like That... after having been absent on-screen from its first season.
Her cameo comes following years of apparent tension between Kim and her former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, 58, who plays Carrie Bradshaw in the beloved franchise.
It has been claimed that Kim's highly-anticipated return is motivated by a desire to have closure and as an opportunity for fans to see Samantha on-screen again.
A source told Heat magazine: "Kim says she was motivated by two main things - her own personal closure, plus the opportunity to give SATC fans a chance to see Samantha on-screen one last time."
They added that the actor was "compensated extremely well" and alleged that she has walked away with $500,000 (around £400,000) for "committing to this cameo".
It's claimed that her return was "on her own terms" and that she was given approval over her part in the script. The source added: "There was zero interest or desire on her part to interact with the cast, so she filmed it by herself."
Kim and Sarah Jessica reportedly fell out whilst working together on SATC, which ran from 1998 to 2004, before spawning two films which were released in 2008 and 2010.
It has previously been claimed by Kim that Sarah Jessica was "cruel" and "could have been nicer" on set, whilst the latter has said that whilst it can be difficult filming a TV show, she doesn't regret how she's treated people.
Kim reportedly wasn't asked to appear in the first season of And Just Like That, allegedly because of comments about not wanting to reprise her role, though her character was referenced throughout the series.
The source said Kim is "still very chilly" towards Sarah Jessica and writer Michael Patrick King, 68, due to "hurtful and b****y things" allegedly said and written about her.
It was further claimed that Kim is "proud" of herself for finding a way to put the matter behind her and the source said it meant "a whole lot" to play her character again.
The source concluded by saying that seeing the sequel series And Just Like That... previously go ahead without Samantha had been a "dagger to her heart" for Kim.
"She wanted to be involved in the closing of this particular chapter and everyone's thrilled they got her back," the source further commented following news of her cameo.
