Kilmarnock carvery to open at former restaurant site with all you can eat breakfast and lunch

A new carvery is set to open in Kilmarnock within the coming weeks.

The eaterie, dubbed Riverside, will take the place of Rock Diner, which closed for the final time last month.

The St Marnock Street venue will feature all you can eat breakfast and lunch but a carvery will be at the heart of the offering.

In addition, the town centre restaurant will have a late lounge - open to 2.30am - which is essentially a toned-down nightclub for people who don't want to go clubbing.

The new venture is a collaboration between two Kilmarnock families - Ross Gilmour, owner of Meat in the Middle, and partner Caithlin Galbraith along with Hogan's sandwich and burger bar owners Mark and Lynn Hogan.

Ross Gilmour revealed that the idea was sparked by customers begging him to open a carvery in the town.

He said: "Over the years I’ve had umpteen messages from people screaming at me to open a carvery

"The aim is to provide a relaxing and comfortable environment for families, with entertainment to suit.

"Carvery will be the heart of our offering but also includes a beer garden, bar area and a late lounge with a premium selection of beers, IPAs, spirits, wines and cocktails.

"Our late lounge will be a very toned down night club. It will have a pool table and indoor sports games screen, along with a dance floor and comfy seating for people who don’t want to go clubbing but wish to enjoy their night after the pubs."

It's understood the project will create around 15 new jobs and while there is no firm opening date as of yet it is expected to open in around six weeks.

Entertainment at the venue could include the likes of comedians, karaokes and an indoor interactive sports games screen

Bosses are looking to recruit staff for front of house, the bar and kitchen. For more information, email: recruitment@riversidecarvery.co.uk
