Killing Eve fans go wild as Jodie Comer returns in thrilling episode with 'huge twist'

Dark comedic drama Killing Eve is finally back for a fourth and final season.

Fans of the thrilling BBC series have waited for months for the new episode which sees Jodie Comer return as Villainelle.

Killing Eve fans tuned in on Saturday night to see what has changed in the murderers life since she last appeared on screen in season three - and they weren't disappointed at what they saw.

Eve, played by Sandra Oh, is now on a revenge mission against The Twelve, while assassin Villanelle has found religion.

Villanelle, gloriously angelic in her quest for salvation, is struggling with the notion of God as viewers watched her enter the world of religion - but fans couldn't help but feel it was all a bit unbelievable as they predicted a 'huge twist' to come.

Taking to Twitter, fans shared their reaction to the first episode of the nail-biting new series.

"That's definitely the first time Villainelle has ever stepped foot in a church. Something weird is going on here," one tweeted.

"I smell a huge twist coming this series," another wrote.

"OMG, it's back!!!! But whyyyy is Villainelle a goody two-shoes now? This won't last," someone else complained.

Meanwhile, a fourth penned: "Ugh there's something bad coming."

The final moments of the third season of the BBC drama left viewers in nail-biting suspense, as Villanelle and Eve stood poised on the Tower Bridge, with the possibility one would push the other over the edge in the air.

In the end, the pair turned their backs on one another and slowly walked away, but not before one final glance back, leaving Killing Eve fans to wonder what could be in store next for the two women.

Speaking on This Morning last year, Jodie Comer told co-hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield she was about to shoot the last two episodes of the season.

Jodie told that she hoped the show would provide a “good and satisfying” ending to fans - but did not completely rule a future film based on the series.

She said: “It's very surreal, we are just about to start filming the last two episodes. We want to end on a good note and on a satisfying note for the audience. It's been a huge part of all our lives.

“I feel emotional even thinking about it. I want to take a clapper board with me when we wrap up!

“It will be great to end in a way as if you go on and on with a series the quality can fade, but it will be hard to not see those people every day.”

Killing Eve airs on BBC One.
