Killer told police 'shut up you nonce', woman stabbed partner and fair ride horror

These are the latest ECHO headlines this morning.

Ava White killer told police officer 'shut up you nonce' in interview

The teen who murdered Ava White told a police officer "shut up you nonce" when questioned about the killing.

Ava, 12, was knifed in the neck by a 14-year-old boy in an argument over him filming her on Snapchat. A trial heard Boy A, who cannot be named for legal reasons, smirked and laughed afterwards, then ran away and ditched his flick knife, designer coat and mobile phone in a "cover up".

The killer - accused of showing a "callous disregard" for the schoolgirl - took selfies, got butter for crumpets and played Call of Duty at a friend's flat while Ava was dying. When phoned by his mum and told detectives were looking for him, he hung up, then texted her: "Gonna end up going the cells for nothing."

Boy A claimed he acted in self-defence, but a jury took just two hours and eight minutes to unanimously find him guilty of murder at Liverpool Crown Court. He started crying as members of Ava's family cheered, clapped and shouted "get in".

The youth was arrested in Toxteth at around 10.30pm on November 25 last year - just two hours after the murder in School Lane in Liverpool city centre. The jury heard edited transcripts of five police interviews carried out in the days that followed.

Prosecutors outlined a series of lies he told police - including giving a "false alibi" and blaming another boy for the stabbing. T he ECHO can now reveal his outburst in his first interview which the jury never heard.

Drunk woman stabbed partner after believing he was cheating

A drunk woman stabbed her partner after believing he was cheating on her.

Julie Gibbons, 56, and her partner, Paul Harrison had rowed earlier in the evening of August 2, 2020, after she accused him of being unfaithful to her, which he denied. He made them both some food at her home in St Helens, and gave her a knife to cut it but she refused the food and he took the knife back to the kitchen drawer.

By this point Gibbons had drunk almost three bottles of wine and continued to accuse Mr Harrison of cheating. Cheryl Mottram, prosecuting at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday, May 24, said he then grabbed the knife and placed it on top of the cupboard saying "Go on, do what you want with it".

Ms Mottram said: "In response, she picked it up and stabbed him on the front and side of his chest. He managed to push her away and call for an ambulance. On hearing the nature of the incident the police were called."

When officers arrived Gibbons was screaming and “making no sense at all”, said Miss Mottram. She was arrested and when interviewed she accepted the couple were both alcoholics and she could not remember what had happened.

Woman needed 'blood transfusion' after Turkey fair ride horror

A woman suffered multiple injuries, including a broken nose, after coming off a ride in Turkey.

Melissa Hunter, from Southport, was on holiday for two weeks in the popular destination with her friend. On Saturday, May 21, the friends decided to go on a Waltzer-type ride which was behind their hotel.

But what was meant to be a fun ride turned into a nightmare, as the 35-year-old said she was flung off the attraction. Melissa said she wanted to share her story to warn others of the possible dangers of amusement rides abroad.

She said: "The only way I can describe is the seats are like the Waltzers which has a seat and a bar which goes down, they were like in a row behind each other in the circle. So the ride goes round and round and then tips on a slant, so you're kind of sideways.

"He's like laughing and we're laughing at first. Then he started turning it up so it going faster and faster. And because of the g-force or whatever, I am on the outside of the carriage and my friend is on the inside because she is smaller then me, she is sort of leaning into me."
