'Killer shark looked me straight in my face before mauling me to brink of death'

A surfer looked a shark in the eyes before it sunk its teeth into his leg and almost killed him.

Brett Connellan said his "worst nightmare" came true during the encounter with the bull shark around 100 metres off Bombo Beach in Kiama, Australia.

The now-29-year-old has revealed the details of the mauling in a new documentary.
