Kieran Trippier admitted Newcastle United were not at their best in the slender win over Everton.
A Miguel Almiron wonder goal grabbed the points at St James' Park as Newcastle made it six matches unbeaten. Their hot streak keeps them in the top six of the Premier League and in European contention.
Trippier told Amazon Prime: "It was a massive win for us. We've had a good spell recently and we want to keep pushing up the league and competing at the top of the table.
"We didn't perform to our best today but we grinded out the result. Ever since the gaffer has come here, and myself, it has been a positive place to be. We are performing well.
"The last two games not really, but we are still getting the results we want. Long may that continue."
And speaking about the win and his assist for Almiron, Bruno Guimaraes weighed in: "Miggy [Almiron] is an amazing guy. I am really happy because all my assists here have been for him. I am proud of the team, it was a big step for us today."
