Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier has revealed the advice he has given Real Madrid's newest star Jude Bellingham after his mega-money switch. Newcastle’s right back has given some helpful tutorship to the 19-year-old who signed for the La Liga giants this week for £89 million.
The England teammates will have both played in Madrid after Trippier’s time for Atletico, who he left to join United in January 2022. Trippier has been a fantastic mentor on and off the pitch at Newcastle, and he is no different for England too, he told reporters some of the advice he gave Bellingham.
“I just said to him go and embrace it you know? The lifestyle, the football, the league. For his family it’ll be an amazing opportunity for him to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world at such a young age, he fully deserves it as well.”

Bellingham is part of an exclusive list of English players to play for Los Blancos, joining the likes of David Beckham and the former Newcastle striker Michael Owen. Trippier had a hugely successful time in Spain for Atletico, featuring 86 times for the red and white side of Madrid, something he reflects fondly on, and although Trippier played for Real Madrid’s rivals, he said his door is always open for Bellingham should he need help.
“My time there was a great time, I managed to win a league title there, obviously not Real Madrid, on the other side [Atletico]”," Trippier added. “We’ve had loads of conversations me and Jude, I'm always there for him if he needs help, with living or anything which he knows, so I couldn’t be prouder for him”.
Bellingham moves to Real Madrid after 132 appearances for Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund, in which he scored 24 goals. The young midfielder made his England debut in 2020 and has gone on to make 24 caps for the national side.
