Kieran Tierney's evergreen Arsenal quirk that shows longevity as Granit Xhaka exit puts star in exclusive club

Kieran Tierney may be weighing up his future which could lead to an eventual Arsenal exit but the defender is on an exclusive list at the Emirates.

The Scotland cap was frozen out somewhat last campaign as Mikel Arteta and co fluffed their lines in the late stages of the season as Treble-winning Manchester City stormed in to snatch the Premier League title. Tierney found game time limited under the Spaniard with Ukraine star Oleksandr Zinchenko preferred majorly throughout the season. That lead to the 25-year-old being on the summer transfer wishlist of Eddie Howe and Newcastle, with Aston Villa also said to be tracking his progress.

Reports suggested Tierney wouldn't close the door on a sensational return to Celtic with old boss Brendan Rodgers back in post. Yet it appears the left-back will be looking for regular time in England's top flight and could be moved on before the start of the season. Arsenal have been making waves in the transfer market but said goodbye to former captain Granit Xhaka who ended a seven-year stint in London to move to Bayer Leverkusen.

With the Swiss' exit from the Emirates, Tierney joins an exclusive list of those Arsenal mainstays from the starting line-up that beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final in 2020. Only the Scot, Nicholas Pepe and Rob Holding remain at the Gunners from that game four years ago.

Tierney signed for the Premier League giants in 2019 from boyhood club Celtic and has made over 100 appearances in London.
