The transfer window is just around the corner. And of course, as the opportunity to sign players approaches, rumours start to swirl.
One of those is speculation claiming Kieran Tierney could reunite with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic after playing just once for Arsenal this season, having spent last season on-loan in Spain.
Tierney, 27, was an unused substitute six times following his return from a hamstring injury sustained at Euro 2024 during the summer, and finally made his first appearance of the season against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
Arsenal's stance seems to be that the left-back is "fully committed" to the English Premier League club. Meanwhile, Rodgers referenced Tierney as "one of us" and admitted he was looking to add reinforcements in January.
While Tierney's current deal expires in June, Arsenal do retain the ability to prolong it by 12 months.
What's unfolded regarding the Scotland defender has certainly piqued the interest of former Scottish Premiership footballers Marvin Bartley and Scott Allan, who discussed the topic on The Warm-Up, William Hill's weekly SPFL preview show.
"Firstly, I thought it was weird the news coming out that they aren't going to trigger his extension, especially after playing in the game yesterday," Bartley said. "I just thought the timing was very, very strange.
"He is always going to be linked back to Celtic. I just don't think financially, at this moment in time, it's a move that can happen. I think the wage cut he would have to take would be massive, but if there was one player that was going to come back to Celtic one day and play, it was definitely going to be him.
"But I just don't know if it will be that next move. I just think he's still too young at 27-years of age. I would keep him at Arsenal. I just don't think he's been given a fair crack at all."

“You feel if he comes back now, that's him back back, and he doesn't go back down south," Allan, who represented Celtic 17 times during the 2015/16 season, replied.
"I think maybe in terms of where he’s at in his journey, he’s obviously had a lot of injuries, and he might just want that little bit of home comforts which he has with Celtic and obviously his family back here.
“That might be the reason why he maybe engineers a move back here, but I’m on the same camp as Marv [Bartley]. I think he’s still got a lot more to give down in England and would like to see him at another Premier League club.”
