Andy Walker has tipped Kieran Tierney for a move to Newcastle over the coming months of the football calendar - stating that the Scotland star won't be happy playing 'second fiddle' to Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Tierney became Arsenal's first-choice left-back in 2019 under the guidance of former Gunners manager Unai Emery, and nailed down a starting spot in the first few years of his Arsenal career with Mikel Arteta taking the managerial hotseat just six months into his new spell away from Celtic.
Life was looking rosy for Tierney until the summer, with the Gunners making a move for Manchester City full-back Zinchenko. Since then, they have mounted a surprise title bid which now sees them sit five points clear of Pep Guardiola's men with just 13 games to go. His versatile replacement has played a huge part in that, with his inverted wing-back style fitting Arteta's like a glove - making Tierney somewhat redundant in the starting XI. And with Newcastle being credited with an interest for the former Celtic darling, Walker has tipped the 35-time Scotland cap to make the move to the north east to join the Geordie revolution.
Walker said on Go Radio: "I could see him going to Newcastle. He would undoubtedly be first choice there, they have a lot of ambition, they seem to be a club now that are focused on getting European football or maybe even Champions League football, which Tierney has been used to.
"He certainly won't be happy playing second-fiddle at Arsenal, although I'm such. Big admirer of Zinchenko. He is a wonderful talent, and when you consider all the stuff the has to put up with off the pitch back in his homeland, he is magnificent to watch."
Lawrence Shankland, who was a guest on Go, backed Walker's claims by adding that Zinchenko is an 'incredible' player.
Shankland said: "He's very good, you've seen bits at Manchester City but he wouldn't have played as much as he'd have like to. Then he goes to Arsenal, plays regularly, and when he came to Scotland for Ukraine in the play-off game he was incredible that night."
