Arsenal's winning run came to an end on Sunday as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Southampton in the Premier League. The Gunners still remain top of the table, but will be frustrated by the nature of the way they dropped points at St. Mary's.
Mikel Arteta's side missed countless chances on the day, with Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Jesus in particular proving the guilty culprits. Eventually they got in front thanks to Granit Xhaka's second right-footed half-volley in as many games, but struggled to fully seize on the initiative and allowed Saints back into the game before Stuart Armstrong grabbed the equaliser.
Arsenal did briefly think they had won it when Martin Odegaard turned home Kieran Tierney's late cross only for the ball to be judged to have gone out of play. That was a high point in a promising cameo for Tierney, who was left out of the starting XI yet again in favour of Takehiro Tomiaysu.
Unsurprisingly. the Scotland international's future was a topic of conversation on the second episode of football.london's new A View From the Clock End podcast.

Our Arsenal writers Kaya Kaynak and Bailey Keogh also discussed the rest of Mikel Arteta's controversial substitutions on the day and Gabriel Jesus' recent struggles in front of goal. Away from the game, the pair also took a look at how the Gunners loanees such as Flo Balogun, Charlie Patino and Nicolas Pepe are getting on, as well as the changes they would make for PSV and how much of a threat Newcastle are becoming after their victory over Tottenham.
