Kieran Tierney Arsenal to Newcastle transfer blow emerges

Kieran Tierney's prospective move to Newcastle this summer could well be off the table.

It has emerged this morning that the Premier League side are working on an alternative option.

Eddie Howe's side has been confirmed to have submitted a bid believed to be worth £35million for Chelsea youngster Lewis Hall.

There is serious interest from numerous clubs in the 18-year-old left-back, but Newcastle are looking to steal the march over their competitors.

It's said that Chelsea only wants to loan Hall out initially, but the Magpies want him on a permanent deal.

Scotland international Tierney was considered by Howe at Newcastle, but David Ornstein of the Athletic reports this could now have changed.

The Scotland international's game time at Arsenal has become increasingly limited over the past 12 months.

With the European Championships next summer, the 25-year-old will want to be playing regular first-team football in order to keep himself sharp in the eventuality that Scotland qualifies.

However, it would appear that a potential switch from The Emirates to St James' Park could be off the cards now that Newcastle have acted on their interest in Hall.

It's believed the Chelsea defender was brought up as a Newcastle fan.

While this means Tierney to Newcastle looks to be dead and buried, it's believed there is still interest from Aston Villa and Real Sociedad in KT.

Celtic were also linked with a stunning loan swoop for him, but that seems very unlikely at this time.

Arsenal paid the Hoops £25million in a Scottish record fee for Tierney in the summer of 2019.

The Scottish champions will of course be in line for a sell-on fee should Tierney leave this summer.
