Khloe Kardashian has shared details of her “anxiety” surrounding Instagram since fans began accusing the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star of Photoshopping her striking snaps.
The 37-year-old’s fans have previously begged her to post more natural pictures, causing the mum-of-one to label social media no longer “fun” in the premiere episodes of the famous family’s new Hulu series.
In the second episode of The Kardashians, Khloe is seen opening up to close friend Malika Haqq ahead of an interview with late night host James Corden.
She said: “I have such anxiety about going. It's never the interview, it's always the aftermath. Now you have to listen to everyone say this, or judge you or over-analyse something you say and pick this apart.”
Speaking to the cameras, Khloe explained: “Social media used to be fun and silly. There's definitely always trolls. Now, everything is so critical. The way I look, my situation with Tristan, is my hair done the right way, this, that.
“I've got to the point where it's literally safer to stay home.”
Malika replied: “Anxiety is real and the amount of criticism and scrutiny you have to deal with is also real, but I do like that you do deal.”
She added: “You could disappear and decide you don't want this to be your life anymore because someone doesn't have something nice to say to you.”
Khloe told the cameras that living by the mantra “f*** the haters” and tuning out criticism is “much easier said than done”.
In later scenes, she continued: “It's so deteriorating on your self-esteem, your confidence, the way that you view yourself.
“Even posting photos on Instagram, I'm anxious, even when I barely did retouching. I'm still so afraid to post it because people are going to say I did this.”
The Good American founder previously admitted to being a fan of “a good filter, good lighting and an edit here and there” after an unfiltered bikini image of the reality star went viral in April 2021.
As the unedited image gained traction, it was reported that Khloe and her family were working to wipe any trace of it from the internet.
Khloe addressed the drama on Instagram days later, as she shared live videos baring her midriff to prove that her body “isn't Photoshopped.”
She also issued a lengthy statement on the pressures of the spotlight and her body being “micro-analysed”.
An excerpt of the message read: “As someone who has struggled with body image her whole life, when someone takes a photo of you that isn't flattering in bad lighting or doesn't capture your body the way it is after working so hard to get it to this point - and then shares it to the world, you should have every right to ask for it to not be shared, regardless of who you are.
She continued: “My body, my image and how I choose to look and what I want to share is my choice. It's not for anyone to decide or judge what is acceptable or not anymore.”
The Kardashians will be available to stream on Hulu from April 14.
