Khloé Kardashian has divided fans with a post about Scott Disick that she's understood to have shared on social media just days ago, following her birthday last week.
The reality TV star, 39, took to Instagram recently to share some of the presents she had received, with the gifts having seemingly included a bouquet of flowers from Scott, 40.
The pair have remained on good terms in the years since he split up from Khloé's eldest sister Kourtney Kardashian, now 44, with whom socialite Scott shares his three children.
His friendship with Khloé has prompted discussion this week in response to the caption that featured in the post that she appeared to make about the bouquet.
They were the subject of discussion on Reddit after a screenshot of the post was shared, showing the caption: "I love @letthelordbewithyou more than you know."
The caption - which included Scott's handle - was described by some people as "weird," whilst others suggested it shows a "double standard" about members of the family being pals with one of their siblings' exes.
One person wrote: "Like why would you write this about your sister's ex partner." Another said: "Imagine Kourtney posting this about [Khloé's ex-husband] Lamar [Odom]."
Other exes of Kris Jenner's children were referenced in comparisons, like Kim Kardashian's ex-husband Kanye West and Rob Kardashian's ex-partner Blac Chyna.
Someone said: "Imagine the uproar if Kim posted and wrote this about Tristan [Thompson]? Or Kourtney about Kanye?" A fourth said: "Or if anyone wrote this about Blac Chyna."
Whilst another person said: "I wouldn't like it if my sister and my ex (but during the course of our relationship too) hang out alone together constantly either. What on earth."
Others however defended Khloé and Scott, with several people commenting in the thread that relationships vary and saying that he has known the family for many years.
Someone wrote amid comparisons: "Completely different. The years and situations are different." Others similarly suggested Khloé and Scott are closer than other possible combinations of family members and a siblings' ex.
"[He's] been with the family for a long time [...] [They] will always have a deep relationship with him for all the things they went through together," one person said.
Another wrote: "[I] don't understand why people are confused by their closeness. As if we didn't watch them on TV for ten plus years be a family and treat Scott as a brother."
Whilst another person suggested that there is a "double standard" with the way Scott is treated compared to other exes in the family, but speculated about the reason for it.
They suggested that Scott is a "brother figure" to Khloé, adding that the family may show love to him because his own parents both died months apart around a decade ago.
Another wrote: "[Me and my ex] didn't work out, but thankfully what came of years of co parenting and the love from our extended families is a crazy beautiful friendship. [...] I think this is awesome and the result of hard work and family."
