Khanh Ong Was Arrested While Filming A Cooking Video & Yes, He Posted It To Instagram

By Sakara Bell

This investigation is a part of a paid partnership.

Australian icon, celebrity chef and content creator Khanh Ong has been arrested (sorry, what)?!

In an Instagram Reel posted by the MasterChef alum a few days ago, he was stopped mid-filming and seemingly placed under arrest while making a pizza. One moment, he’s plating up pure perfection and posting chaos on socials. The next thing you know, he’s gone.

Rumours regarding what could have led to this are growing, so naturally, we’re asking the same question you all seem to be wondering: what on earth happened?

What happened in the Reel?

Of course, we had to put on our investigative journalist hats and dig deep to find out what had actually happened. During our investigation, we discovered what appears to be footage of Khanh during his sudden arrest and TBH, it has us a little worried.

In the video, we see Khanh cooking up what appears to be another one of his stunning recipes: his “go-to pizza.” He lists the ingredients, grabbing a range of toppings including tasty cheese, which he’s using ‘cos it’s all he has left. It’s at this point that the sirens can first be heard, though Khanh doesn’t seem too bothered, other than the noise distraction. He grabs his grater and is back in action when all of a sudden, things take a dramatic turn.

A loud knock can be heard. Khanh answers the door as a voice shouts, “Put your hands where we can see them”, demanding that he drop the cheese and the grater, and declaring him under arrest.

Coincidence? Hmmm. Concerning? Yeah!

Breaking down your theories on what went on

The video has a lot of people wondering what Khanh could have done.

According to the internet’s unofficial detectives (looking at all of you who are secret AFP agents on social media), there are already a few theories on people’s minds.

Looking too hot in all red on his recent MasterChef Australia appearance and leaving people speechless? Maybe he’s been involved in an underground dessert trade, with too many sweet treats and has given people a sweet tooth? Or perhaps, the real reason lies within his social media. Are there any hidden clues in his recent posts or Reels?

Again, is it just a coincidence that Khanh was arrested in the middle of grating tasty cheese over his go-to pizza? After all, we did see in his last reel that the cops demanded he drop the cheese and the grater immediately before arresting him.

If you ask us, he’s an Australian icon — of course, he’s not one to break the rules, let alone the law.

Between TV appearances, fashion fits (hello, his Glamour on the Grid fit, HOT AF), cooking and plating up those stunning recipes, surely Khanh wouldn’t have any time to commit any kind of crime. But when someone like Khanh is arrested, you immediately start to ponder.

Maybe we’ve been wrong about him all along. Maybe behind those picturesque TV appearances and perfectly plated up dishes, he is leading a double life that no one knows about.

As we know, nothing has been confirmed. However, it seems there are only two possibilities. Khanh is innocent and this is all one giant misunderstanding… or perhaps Khanh is guilty of making life just a little too yum?
