Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president Eshwar Khandre on Friday urged Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to hold a review meeting of Bidar district during his visit to Basavakalyan to inaugurate Karnataka Kalyana Yatra Parva on Saturday.
In a letter addressed to Mr. Bommai, pointing out that this was his [Mr. Bommai] first visit to Bidar district after taking charge as Chief Minister, Mr. Khandre urged him to chair a meeting to review the implementation of the schemes of the Union Government and the State Government in the backward region.
He said that the region remained stagnant as far as development parameters are concerned. Kalyana Karnataka presented a sad picture of continued backwardness in key sectors of development despite a marked increase in government allocation over the last few years, he added.
Expressing displeasure over the slow pace of development works in the region, Mr. Khandre urged the State Government to diligently work on all incomplete infrastructure projects in the region. Similarly, the State Government needs to focus on industrial development and basic amenities and improve health and education sectors, he said.
