Khamzat Chimaev has sent a warning to Ian Garry ahead of his clash with Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310. The undefeated UFC middleweight contender is shutting down the middleweight dreams of Garry, insisting the Irishman is ‘too skinny’ and if he comes near Chimaev, he’ll ‘end up headless’.

Ian Garry faces the toughest fight of his life this weekend at UFC 310. The unbeaten Irish MMA star faces Shavkat Rakhmonov in the co-main event at the T-Mobile Arena, with the winner guaranteed the next UFC Welterweight Title shot.
Garry goes into the fight as a big underdog with the best UFC betting sites in the UK. This comes as no surprise given the sheer dominance of Rakhmonov and his performances in the octagon of late. It is an undefeated clash, and somebody’s ‘0’ has got to go!
Although Garry is firmly focused on his fight at UFC 310, he is also dreaming about the day he fights unbeaten middleweight terror Khamzat Chimaev.
The pair almost came to blows at a UFC event back in 2023 in Florida, almost throwing hands inside an elevator. Since the, a potential fight between the pair has been discussed on numerous occasions. It is a possibility too, given they are only one weight class apart.
“I’ve said to you before, how my ideal scenario is I fight, I beat Shavkat and win the title. Then go up to middleweight and then fight Khamzat. I’ll be able to win that belt too. I’m not afraid of any man,” Garry told Ariel Helwani pre-fight ahead of UFC 310.
Since this interview between the Irishman and Helwani, Khamzat Chimaev has himself taken to Twitter (X), sending a stern warning to Ian Garry.
‘You’ll End Up Headless’ – Unbeaten UFC Middleweight Warns Ian Garry
With UFC 310 just around the corner, all eyes with be on Alexandre Pantoja vs Kai Asakura for the UFC Flyweight Title. Not to mention the huge welterweight clash between Ian Garry and Shavkat Rakhmonov.
Should Garry win and get a UFC Welterweight Title shot next against Belal Muhammad, he could well have his sights set on a Khamzat Chimaev clash at the end of 2025 or early in 2026.
‘Borz’ is currently ranked #3 in the 185-pound division and could be tapped for middleweight gold next against Dricus Du Plessis. But after that, the Ian Garry fight is one that could come to fruition, given their past rivalry stemming back to the elevator moment in 2025.
Either way, it doesn’t seem like Chimaev is looking over his shoulder. Instead, he is fully focused on winning the UFC Middleweight Title in 2025. However, he did issue this warning to Garry, writing on Twitter the following:
“You’re too skinny kid, don’t go near the Wolf’s teeth, you’ll end up headless.”
It seems the Chimaev vs Garry rivalry could well be renewed in the coming years. ‘Borz’ seems serious about a clash with the Irishman in the next 12-18 months, and evidently wants to hurt his UFC counterpart.
