The Scale of What You're Walking Into
The Khairatabad Ganesh routinely stands between 50 and 70 feet tall depending on the year's theme, making it the largest Ganesh idol installed anywhere in Hyderabad during Vinayaka Chavithi. The pandal sits on the edge of Khairatabad lake, and the structure is visible from the flyover before you've even turned off the main road. That visibility is useful because it tells you, immediately, how many other people had the same plan you did. On peak days, Chavithi day itself and the final day before visarjan, the crowd at the Khairatabad pandal can stretch back 300 to 500 metres from the darshan queue entry point. The Telangana government deploys police in significant numbers, and the queue is managed in cordoned lanes, but moving through it still takes between 45 minutes and two hours depending on when you arrive.
