Key States' Election Night Vote Reporting Expectations

As the nation eagerly awaits the outcome of the 2020 Presidential Election, here is a breakdown of what to expect on election night in key states:

Georgia
North Carolina: Polls close at 7:30 p.m. ET, delays due to new laws.
Georgia: Polls close at 7:00 p.m. ET, expect early mail ballots first.
Pennsylvania: Polls close at 8:00 p.m. ET, full mail ballot reporting may take days.

Electoral Votes: 16

Polls Close: 7:00 p.m. ET

Vote Reporting: Early and mail ballots will be reported first, followed by Election Day votes. The state is expected to report nearly all votes on election night.

Important Dates: Early voting ended on 11/1, and mail-in ballots must be received by 11/5.

North Carolina

Electoral Votes: 16

Polls Close: 7:30 p.m. ET

Vote Reporting: New laws may delay the reporting of early votes. Provisional ballots may take longer to count due to new voter ID laws and Hurricane Helene effects.

Important Dates: Early voting ended on 11/2, and mail-in ballots must arrive by 11/5.

Pennsylvania

Electoral Votes: 19

Polls Close: 8:00 p.m. ET

Vote Reporting: Large counties are expected to report mail votes shortly after polls close. Full mail ballot reporting may take several days.

Important Dates: Early voting ended on 10/29, and mail-in ballots must arrive by 11/5.

Michigan

Electoral Votes: 15

Polls Close: 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. ET

Vote Reporting: Reporting patterns vary by county, with most of the state's votes typically reported by midday Wednesday.

Important Dates: Early voting ends on 11/3, and mail-in ballots must be received by 11/5.

Arizona

Electoral Votes: 11

Polls Close: 9:00 p.m. ET

Vote Reporting: Initial results are typically early votes and earlier-arriving mail ballots. Reporting of later-arriving mail ballots may continue for several days.

Important Dates: Early voting ended on 11/1, and mail-in ballots must be received by 11/5.

Wisconsin

Electoral Votes: 10

Polls Close: 9:00 p.m. ET

Vote Reporting: Results will vary by county, with most of the state's results expected on election night.

Important Dates: Early voting ends on 11/3, and mail-in ballots must arrive by 11/5.

Nevada

Electoral Votes: 6

Polls Close: 10:00 p.m. ET

Vote Reporting: Results are not reported until all polling places have closed. Counting may continue for several days, with ballots postmarked on Election Day accepted until November 9.
