- Rugby coach and campaigner Sir Kevin Sinfield has been knighted by the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle for services to rugby and the motor neurone disease (MND) community.
- Sir Kevin, who has raised more than £11 million for charity, accepted the knighthood on behalf of MND families and said that his late friend Rob Burrow would be enormously proud.
- Sir Kevin also praised the Prince and Princess of Wales their ongoing support of his fundraising efforts, which recently included his 7 in 7 ultra-marathon challenge.
- Sir Kevin announced plans to organise a charity run in Australia and New Zealand next year to foster international collaboration in finding a cure for MND.
- Former Olympic triathlon champion Alistair Brownlee was awarded an OBE and England footballer Michelle Agyemang received an MBE at the same investiture ceremony.
