The search committee of Abyssinian Baptist Church, a prominent congregation in New York City, has announced its recommendation of Kevin R. Johnson as the next senior pastor. Johnson, the founding pastor of Dare to Imagine Church in Philadelphia, is set to lead the more than 200-year-old Abyssinian Baptist Church pending congregation approval.
The committee expressed confidence in Johnson's ability to uphold the institution's history and legacy. If approved, Johnson will become the first male senior pastor of Abyssinian, continuing a tradition that has been in place since the church's inception.
