Kevin Pietersen shares Cristiano Ronaldo transfer wish as cricket star celebrates birthday

Kevin Pietersen is celebrating his 42nd birthday and the England cricket legend has cheekily asked Chelsea to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United as a birthday present.

Pietersen is a Chelsea fan and counts club legends Frank Lampard, John Terry and Ashley Cole as friends. The former England captain also used the club's facilities during his career while recovering from an Achilles injury.

And Pietersen wants the Blues to go out and sign Ronaldo this summer, after reports emerged that new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly met with Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes. According to the Athletic, the pair discussed Ronaldo's future and a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

Taking to Twitter, Pietersen urged Chelsea to get the deal done, writing: "All I want for my birthday is @Cristiano signing for @ChelseaFC". However, United are keen to keep Ronaldo at Old Trafford, with a source telling Mirror Football: "Cristiano is not for sale. We want - and fully expect - him to be with us next season."

And Ronaldo himself has spoken highly of new United boss Erik ten Hag, telling manutd.com : "What I know about him is he did a fantastic job for Ajax, that he's an experienced coach. But we need to give him time.

"Things need to change the way he wants. I hope we have success, of course, because, if you have success, all of Manchester is going to have success as well.

"I wish him the best. We are happy and excited, not only as players, but the supporters as well. I wish him the best and let's believe that, next year, we are going to win trophies."

He continued: "I know he did a fantastic job for Ajax and that he's an experienced coach but we need to give him time. Things need to change the way he wants.

"I hope we have success, of course. Because if you have success all of Manchester is going to have success as well so I wish him the best."
