Jonathan “JT” Jackson has filed a lawsuit against Kevin Hart, alleging that the comedian fabricated evidence in his 2017 extortion case and breached a subsequent contract. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles, claims that Hart and Jackson signed a settlement agreement in July 2021, where Hart was supposed to issue a public statement proclaiming Jackson’s innocence in the sex tape scandal. However, Jackson alleges that Hart's statement fell short of clearing his name unequivocally.
Despite the extortion charges against Jackson being dropped in September 2021, he further claims that Hart fabricated evidence that led to his arrest in April 2018. Hart allegedly presented an email demanding bitcoins to prevent the release of more of the sex tape, which forensic experts later determined to be fabricated.
Jackson, an actor and comedian, asserts that Hart's actions have negatively impacted his professional life and financial security. He claims to have faced difficulties in obtaining acting roles since the alleged breach of contract. Additionally, Jackson states that Hart's actions have exacerbated his post-traumatic stress disorder and caused significant mental health struggles.
In his lawsuit, Jackson is seeking more than $12 million in damages and a trial to address the alleged misconduct by Hart. Representatives for Kevin Hart have not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter.
