Kevin Hart calls Dave Chappelle a 'professional' as he weighs in on stage attack

Comedian Kevin Hart hailed Dave Chappelle a 'professional' as he praised the way he dealt with a recent stage invader at his latest show.

Kevin Hart, 42, spoke about the incident during his appearance on US talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Talking to host Mike Birbigilia, who stood in for Jimmy who has Covid, Kevin said it was sad the attack but a dampener on a historic evening for his friend.

"I think that moment that we just witnessed with Dave is like fogging up a bigger moment.

"Dave just made history at the Hollywood Bowl. Dave went back after that and finished doing the show, didn't let that thing be a big thing."

Kevin called Dave a "professional" for dealing with the situation the way he did, as he showed his support for his fellow comedian.

The comedian explained how it "need to happen" that someone needed to "get their ass whipped" in order to send a message to others who were thinking of doing the same."

Dave Chappelle was performing for the Netflix is a Joke festival at the Hollywood Bowl when an audience member ran on stage.

Luckily, security were quick to detain the man and Dave was left uninjured.

Actor Jamie Foxx, who was attending the festival, also helped to stop and detain the attacker, Dave later gave a shoutout to Jamie Foxx and thanked him.

While Chris Rock briefly came on with Dave and joked to the crowd: "Was that Will Smith?"

The comic suffered a stage invasion of his own in March, when Smith slapped him at the 2022 Academy Awards for a joke he made about his wife's hair.

British comedian Jimmy Carr, who also attended the Netflix show, described David Chappelle as "legendary" the situation as "crazy".

He also tweeted saying: "Just happy everyone's ok."

A 23-year-old man named as Isaiah Lee has now been charged for the attack with a total of four misdemeanor charges.

Kevin Hart regularly works with Netflix, he recently produced and starred in True Story which follows a Philadelphia-based actor and comedian played by Kevin, and his brother played by Wesley Snipes, as they have to face the repercussions of bad decisions.
