Kevin Grevioux to direct action-adventure film Shurika based on graphic novel

Ana Patricia POSING FOR SHOOT

Kevin Grevioux, well-known for his acting roles in hit films such as the 'Underworld' franchise, 'I Frankenstein,' and 'King of Killers,' is set to step into the director's chair for the action-adventure film 'Shurika.' The film, scheduled to commence production later this year, is already generating buzz as rights are being pre-sold by Reiko Bradley's Eclipse Intl. at the prestigious European Film Market, held in conjunction with the Berlin Film Festival.

Adapted by Grevioux from a graphic novel published by his Darkstorm Comics & Media company, 'Shurika' follows the story of a biracial Black Japanese woman navigating complex familial dynamics. Hidden from her Yakuza grandfather by her mother, the protagonist's journey unfolds as she searches for her birth mother, leading her into a gripping conflict between the ninja clan that raised her and the formidable Japanese underworld.

In expressing his enthusiasm for the project, Grevioux shared, 'I've been wanting to tell this story for quite some time. It's not only filled with high-octane action, but it also delves deep into the importance of family, relationships, and forgiveness in the face of tragedy.'

Behind the scenes, seasoned producer Moshe Diamant, known for his work on films like 'The Protege' and 'Memory,' is spearheading production, while Gaby Whyte Hart will oversee casting for 'Shurika.' Eclipse Intl. is also showcasing another captivating project, 'Dariyo: Planet Universe,' a hip hop dramedy penned by esteemed writer-producer David Lowe.

With Dennis Maguire, former head of Raleigh Studios and producer of notable films like 'Black Rain' and 'The Mechanic,' on board, 'Dariyo' promises to bring a fresh perspective to the genre with its unique blend of music and storytelling. The film lineup presented by Eclipse Intl. at the European Film Market indicates a commitment to diverse narratives and innovative filmmaking.

As these projects make their mark on the international film scene, audiences can anticipate a thrilling cinematic experience that transcends traditional boundaries and offers a fresh take on storytelling. Stay tuned for more updates on 'Shurika' and 'Dariyo' as they continue to captivate audiences worldwide with their compelling narratives and talented creative teams.
