Kevin De Bruyne offers uncertain injury update for Man City title charge

Kevin De Bruyne admits there is no deadline on his return to action for Manchester City.

The Belgian international underwent surgery on a hamstring injury sustained when the Premier League champions beat Burnley 3-0 in August.

That was only the 32-year-old’s second appearance of the season after he limped out of the Champions League final win over Inter Milan and did not play a minute over the course of pre-season.

De Bruyne’s fitness could be a crucial factor in deciding where the Premier League title ends up in May. One of the finest players to have graced the division, City have relied on him for much of the Pep Guardiola era.

City are locked level on points with Arsenal in third, just one ahead of fourth-placed Liverpool and two behind early leaders Tottenham.

“We are now three months in and I am doing very well, everything on track,” he told Belgian outlet HBVL.

“I underwent my surgery with Geert Declercq. City is in daily contact with him and Lieven. But they have not given me a deadline for when I will be able to play football again.”
