Kerry Katona has issued a 'message apology' to Molly-Mae Hague, hours after the new mum addressed the 'nasty' backlash over her baby daughter's name. The former Love Island star burst into tears as she introduced her followers to her newborn baby daughter on her YouTube channel.
Molly-Mae and her boxer boyfriend Tommy Fury announced last month that they had welcomed their first child into the world. The loved-up pair, who met and fell in love on Love Island in 2019, shared the wonderful news a week after their daughter's birth by sharing their daughter's birth date alongside a smiling black and white picture of the doting parents holding their bundle of joy while still in the hospital.
Influencer Molly-Mae then returned to social media 24 hours later to confirm her daughter's much-anticipated name. She shared a photo of her daughter lying in her cot in her stunning white nursery, and her name was written in lights above the newborn. "Bambi" she wrote alongside a white love heart for her precious bundle of joy.

But the announcement of the Disney-inspired name caused a huge reaction and Molly-Mae, 23, was forced to switch the comments off from her Instagram post as the comments came flooding in, with some loving the name and others mocking the choice. And on announcing her daughter's unique name, Molly-Mae said it turned out to be a "hard day."
Speaking in her new YouTube vlog in which she shared her birth story for the first time, she said: "I switched Instagram comments off. I was brought back down to earth very quickly of how nasty this world can be." She explained: "Because we'd literally known that our first baby girl was going to be called Bambi, we had gotten so used to the idea that that was going to be her name and to us it wasn't really that unusual anymore.
"And I know it's unusual and unique and not going to be to everyone's taste, but when we announced it, in my mind it was just beautiful, it's her, she's Bambi and that's a beautiful name, amazing, amazing... and then just two seconds after posting it I was like, 'Oh my God!'"
Mum-of-five Kerry was among those to publically criticise Molly-Mae and Tommy's name choice. Weighed into the name debate in her latest OK! magazine column, the former Atomic Kitten star admitted she was 'not a fan' of the name and suggesting the pair consider changing it
She penned: "Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury announced the birth of their daughter last week. It’s lovely news, but I must admit I’m not a fan of the name. I think Bambi Fury sounds a bit ridiculous. It reminds me of the Disney film where the mother gets shot! The poor kid might get some stick in school."
She added: "If they haven’t registered the name yet, maybe they should consider changing it. But each to their own…" However, after Molly-Mae spoke out about the backlash, Kerry has issued a grovelling apology. On Thursday (Febuary 9), the 42-year-old took to Instagram and said in a video that she "thought she was being funny".
She went on: "So I just want to say a massive apology to Molly-Mae. I saw my column the other day and I think I'm dead funny but I'm actually not always that funny, I think what I say sometimes can be funny but it's actually not and Molly-Mae shouldn't even listen to anything I've got to say whatsoever."
Kerry then said she thinks Bambi Fury is "unique" and "beautiful", adding: "When I read it back it came across really harsh. 'It's a little baby for God's sake Kerry', so I wanna hold my hands up and apologise massively. It's not up to me what you call your baby Molly and she's absolutely beautiful and I wish you good luck."
The reality star then added a second Instagram story where she admitted the issue was "really, really, really playing on my mind". She said: "I was trying to be a comedian and sometimes when you mix the two it doesn't come across very well. Bambi Fury is a great name and since I said it it's really really really played on my mind I would never wanna bring anybody down bully anybody hurt anybody I'm not that kind of person in the slightest, sometimes I'll say something I think is funny and it actually isn't."
