Kerry Katona's ex Brian McFadden says he regrets missing out on kids lives after rows

Kerry Katona's ex-husband Brian McFadden said he regretted missing out a lot on his children's lives after their break-up.

The former Westlife star and Kerry married in 2002 until 2006 and they had two children together Molly, 20, and Lilly-Sue, 19. After their split the 42-year-old went on to get engaged to Australian singer Delta Goodrem, before splitting up in 2011, reports the Mirror.

He then married Irish model Vogue Williams in 2012 but they divorced in 2017. In 2019, Brian proposed to PE teacher Danielle Parkinson, 35, and they welcomed a daughter in May last year.

Kerry, from Warrington, also went on to marry other people including Mark Croft in 2007 to 2011 and late Rugby star George Kay, before finding love in fitness trainer Ryan Mahoney. Reflecting on the upbringing of Molly and Lilly-Sue as he prepares to welcome a second child with Danielle, Brian told Closer magazine that he regrets being kept away from his eldest children.

He said: “I was only a kid myself when I had Molly and Lilly, and I was at the height of my career in Westlife then – we were literally working 365 days a year, and there was no FaceTime so I couldn’t speak to the kids, I could only see them when I came home.”

Brian and Kerry famously fell out following their divorce, but he says they have patched up their differences and he is thrilled to include her other children in his life. He added he is glad to see her happy now she is engaged to 33-year-old Ryan. .

Brian said: “It’s very easy to co-parent now our children aren’t kids any more. It was obviously a lot more difficult when they were growing up. Kerry and I didn’t have a very good relationship from the day we broke up until now, really, but it’s been a long time.

“We were only kids when we got together and when we broke up, but we have enough life experience now that we get on with it and there are no problems. There’s no fighting any more.”

He added: “I’ve got a great relationship with Kerry’s other kids, they’re Molly and Lilly’s siblings so they’re part of my family too. Kerry has managed to make it work very, very well and the same to Ryan, he’s been a brilliant father to her two younger children especially.”
