Kerry Katona 'holds hands up' in apology to Molly-Mae Hague

Kerry Katona has issued an apology to Molly-Mae Hague after questioning the former Love Island star's choice of name for her newborn daughter.

Molly-Mae and partner Tommy Fury welcomed a baby girl on January 23, naming her Bambi. Kerry then weighed in on the child's name in her OK! magazine column, where she said she was "not a fan", and suggested the pair consider changing it

She said: "Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury announced the birth of their daughter last week. It’s lovely news, but I must admit I’m not a fan of the name. I think Bambi Fury sounds a bit ridiculous.

"It reminds me of the Disney film where the mother gets shot! The poor kid might get some stick in school". Kerry then added: "If they haven’t registered the name yet, maybe they should consider changing it. But each to their own…"

On Thursday, Kerry, 42, took to Instagram to apologise to Molly-Mae, explaining she "thought she was being funny". The former Atomic Kitten star said: "So I just want to say a massive apology to Molly-Mae.

"I saw my column the other day and I think I'm dead funny but I'm actually not always that funny, I think what I say sometimes can be funny but it's actually not and Molly-Mae shouldn't even listen to anything I've got to say whatsoever."

Kerry then said she thinks Bambi Fury is a name "no-one's ever going to forget", adding it is "unique" and "beautiful". Kerry said: "When I read it back it came across really harsh. 'It's a little baby for God's sake Kerry', so I wanna hold my hands up and apologise massively.

"It's not up to me what you call your baby Molly and she's absolutely beautiful and I wish you good luck."

Minutes later, Kerry added a second Instagram story. She admitted the issue was "really, really, really playing on my mind". She said: "I was trying to be a comedian and sometimes when you mix the two it doesn't come across very well.

"Bambi Fury is a great name and since I said it it's really really really played on my mind I would never wanna bring anybody down bully anybody hurt anybody I'm not that kind of person in the slightest, sometimes I'll say something I think is funny and it actually isn't."
