Kerry Katona has celebrated - and defended - her recent weight loss after recently telling fans about her health diagnosis that triggered her diet and fitness overhaul. The former Atomic Kitten star revealed last month that she has embarked on a new regime after being diagnosed with Lipoedema.
The condition, which is more common in women, is an abnormal build-up of fat in the legs and sometimes arms which can be painful and affect daily life, according to the NHS. But Kerry hasn't let the diagnosis hold her back and was quick to share her own positive outlook as she got stuck in to her daily workouts.
But despite her positive attitude on social media, earlier this week, Kerry opened up about her agony at feeling "sick" when looking at herself in the mirror. She is taking part in a new TV experiment on E4 where celebrities attend nude therapy classes in the extreme show called The Big Celebrity Detox.
During the new programme, the celebrities are set numerous tasks including stripping off and meditating while looking at their bodies. And Kerry has now branded her legs "tree trunks" as she admitted that she regrets having surgery as recently as two years ago and she should have recovered properly.
Speaking to New magazine, the 42-year-old said: "Even now, I look in the mirror and feel sick. I had surgery two years ago and went straight into work. I should never have done it and its f***ed my body up. My legs are like tree trunks - they're so swollen, so sore.
"So it's about learning to accept your body changing." She then jokingly added: "I'm like a flat pack from IKEA, I've been sliced and diced that much. I need instructions!"
But now, Kerry has shared pictures back in her size 12 jeans after overhauling her diet and fitness. Admitting she's been a "yo-yo dieter in the past", she said that her new regime is working for her and she's already seeing the benefits.
"My health and fitness journey is off to a great start – I’ve lost 8lb in a week and I’m back in my size 12 jeans! I feel amazing," the mum-of-five wrote in her new OK! Magazine column. She added: "Last week I posted a video of myself exercising with no filter on. I felt so vulnerable sharing it, but it’s important to show what real bodies look like."
