Kerry Katona apologies to Molly-Mae Hague after calling her baby name 'ridiculous'

Kerry Katona has apologised to Molly-Mae Hague after criticising her 'ridiculous' name for her baby daughter Bambi.

Love Island star Molly-Mae, 23, welcomed her first child with boyfriend Tommy Fury, 23, on January 23. The couple revealed they had called their baby daughter Bambi, which left many fans divided over the Disney-inspired moniker.

Kerry previously stated she was 'not a fan' of their choice of name for their baby girl, and encouraged the couple to change it to avoid school bullies. Speaking in her OK! Magazine column, the mum-of-five wrote: "Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury announced the birth of their daughter last week. It’s lovely news, but I must admit I’m not a fan of the name."

Referencing the 1942 Disney animation Bambi, she continued: "I think Bambi Fury sounds a bit ridiculous. It reminds me of the Disney film where the mother gets shot!"

She added: "The poor kid might get some stick in school. If they haven’t registered the name yet, maybe they should consider changing it. But each to their own…"

However, speaking on Instagram on Thursday morning, the former Atomic Kitten star apologised to Molly-Mae explaining she "thought she was being funny". Kerry said:"I just want to say a massive apology to Molly-Mae.

"I saw my column the other day and I think I'm dead funny but I'm actually not always that funny, I think what I say sometimes can be funny but it's actually not and Molly-Mae shouldn't even listen to anything I've got to say whatsoever."

She added: "When I read it back it came across really harsh. 'It's a little baby for God's sake Kerry', so I wanna hold my hands up and apologise massively. It's not up to me what you call your baby Molly and she's absolutely beautiful and I wish you good luck."

Moments later, she added another Instagram story and continued apologising for her error. She said: "I was trying to be a comedian and sometimes when you mix the two it doesn't come across very well.

"Bambi Fury is a great name and since I said it, it's really really really played on my mind I would never wanna bring anybody down, bully anybody, hurt anybody, I'm not that kind of person in the slightest, sometimes I'll say something I think is funny and it actually isn't."
