Kerry Katona 'always been the one to parent' daughters she shares with ex Brian McFadden

Kerry Katona says she has 'always been the one' to look after the children she shares with ex Brian McFadden since they split.

The reality star, 41, made the revelation as she touched on the fact Ronan Keating and his ex-wife Yvonne Connolly celebrated daughter Missy's 21st birthday together in recent days.

Former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry said she "thinks it's nice when parents can work together and get on for the sake of their children" in her latest OK! Magazine column - before revealing it is in fact the complete opposite for her and Westlife star Brian.

The pair share daughters Molly and Lilly together - but Kerry says she is the one who actually looks after the girls.

She wrote for the publication: "The last time they saw me and Brian together was last March, when my auntie died.

"And that’s actually the first time Lilly has ever seen me and Brian in the same room since we split."

Kerry appeared to suggest there and no hard feelings between her and Brian - it's just "always been that way".

She added: "If I’m being honest, me and Brian have never co-parented the kids. I’ve been the one to parent them. It’s just always been that way."

However the mum-of-five admitted she would "feel more than comfortable doing something with them and their dad Brian" on their birthday.

Elsewhere in her column, Kerry revealed it was Heidi's birthday and she treated her daughter to a trip to London.

The pair watched Dirty Dancing and doting mum Kerry even organised for the cast to meet Heidi at the end, and she "absolutely loved it".

She says it has been a "busy week" with the kids, with DJ taking a trip to the dentist to have fillings.

Kerry also praised daughter Molly and her singing voice as she posted a video of herself singing I Say A Little Prayer by Aretha Franklin on her Instagram account.

"I am so proud of her," the star shared. "She is absolutely unbelievable! Every time she sings she makes me cry."

Molly, who taught herself to play the guitar, currently goes to a drama school in London.

Kerry says: "Who knows what the future holds. But I know she’ll go far."
