KOTTAYAM: In a shocking incident, a man was arrested for raping a 85-year-old woman, his wife's grandmother, multiple times in a village near Konni in Pathanamthitta district on Saturday.
According to police, the 57-year-old accused had raped the elderly woman on three occasions during May 10-15 in the house where he was also residing.
The woman informed about this to an anganwadi worker in the region who alerted Konni police. A woman police official took a detailed statement of the survivor in the presence of the anganwadi worker. The accused, who was absconding, was taken into custody on Friday night and his arrest was recorded on Saturday.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to have committed the crime. The elderly woman who had age-related issues, was staying with the accused's family in his house.
