KOCHI: Kerala’s first cancer genome sequencing machine is being installed in Kochi. This is set to change cancer treatment in the state as genome sequencing will provide oncologists with more data about the causes of cancer and help them create custom treatments, also called precision medicine or personalized medicine based on an individual tumour’s genetic profile.
Karkinos Pathology and Lab Medicine Center for Advanced Cancer Diagnosis and Research, an affordable cancer care initiative that has the backing of prominent investors, including the Tata group, is installing the next-generation sequencing (NGS) and whole-genome sequencing (WGS) facility.
