The woman, identified as 32-year-old Dr Afeena Raheem, was living with her husband Yasar T, and their two young children in the Al Qasimia area.

Afeena had stepped away from her dentistry career to look after her children, a family member told the newspaper. Her husband who is a teacher, was at work when she collapsed

Her sister-in-law, Ramsheena, she had returned to sleep after sending her son to school, according to her husband, Hakeem, who travelled from Saudi Arabia to the UAE after learning of Afeena's death.

Hakeem told Gulf News that he had spoken to his wife around 9 am on Monday. Ramsheena later woke up after hearing one of Afeena's children crying and found her collapsed in the kitchen.

She immediately attempted CPR and called for an ambulance, Hakeem said.

Afeena was taken to a private hospital but could not be revived.

The family said the cause of death has not yet been established. Her husband also said she had been in good health and had no known underlying medical conditions.

The family is awaiting the death notification and other formalities before her remains can be repatriated to her hometown in Kerala.
