Kentucky has confirmed 50 measles cases so far in 2026, and two of them involve people who had received one dose of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine, according to Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) figures reported by WKYT on Sept. 16. Five people have been hospitalized, one more than in the previous update, and no deaths have been reported.
Trimble County, on the Ohio River northeast of Louisville, has recorded its first case in the current outbreak. No cases have been reported in people with two vaccine doses. As recently as Sept. 14, WKYT reported that every case had been in someone without a recorded measles vaccination.
