A Kentucky couple from Bowling Green experienced a stroke of luck when they discovered they had won $50,000 from a Powerball ticket they thought they had lost. The couple had purchased the winning ticket about a week before learning of their good fortune in November, as reported by the Kentucky Lottery.
Mark Perdue, the husband, was informed of their win by the owner of AM Express, a convenience store he frequented. Initially skeptical, Perdue was surprised to find out that he was indeed a winner, as he was captured on the store's video footage purchasing the ticket.
Despite the exciting news, the couple was unable to locate the ticket, leading them to believe it may have been mistakenly discarded. This realization left them feeling regretful for months, with Perdue's wife expressing her disappointment over potentially losing out on the prize.
However, luck smiled upon them once again in February when Perdue, who serves as the president of Kiriu USA, stumbled upon the missing ticket inside a company car. The ticket had been left in the vehicle, which was rarely used but needed for a visiting colleague from another plant.
Grateful for the timely discovery, Perdue was overwhelmed with emotion, realizing the ticket could have gone unnoticed for an extended period if not for the need to use the car. The couple wasted no time in claiming their prize, visiting the lottery headquarters the following day to collect their winnings.
After taxes, the couple received a check for $36,000, which they intend to use to pay off bills and possibly treat themselves to a well-deserved trip. The unexpected turn of events serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of luck and the joy that can come from unexpected windfalls.
