Kenny Pickett's hand measures 8.5 inches at NFL combine

INDIANAPOLIS — Kenny Pickett was set to run the 40-yard dash, throw and participate in other drills on Thursday at the NFL combine. But the piece of information many wondered about is out.

Pickett’s hand size was officially measured at 8 1/2 inches. That’s considered small for a quarterback, especially one projected as a first-round pick. But Pickett himself didn’t seem worried when he caught up with reporters on Wednesday.

“Whatever it measures, it measures,” the longtime Pitt starter said before cracking a smile. “I’m sure that won’t be the last of it. But it’ll be the last measurement I take of it.”

The storyline of Pickett's hand size took off nationally when he declined to have them measured at the Senior Bowl in February, opting to wait until this week. The Heisman Trophy finalist has a double-jointed thumb and chose to use the time between Mobile and now to undergo stretching exercises.

Fortunately for Pickett, NFL teams also don’t seem too concerned with his hand size.

“I think the media runs with it more than I’d say NFL teams do,” Pickett noted Wednesday. “There wasn’t much talk about that in all the formal interviews and informal interviews I’ve had so far this week. It is what it is.”
