Kenny Dalglish gives Ange Postecoglou Celtic exit verdict as Leeds United told to ask

Kenny Dalglish says Leeds United would be "stupid" not to ask Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou to take over as manager at Elland Road. Postecoglou was linked with the Leeds job after Jesse Marsch was relieved of his duties in February. He ultimately ignored the speculation and remained at Celtic Park.

Leeds eventually ended their search for Marsch's successor by appointing Javi Gracia as manager on a 'flexible contract'. The Spaniard has made a bright start to his spell at Elland Road - collecting seven points from his opening four league games at the helm.

Liverpool and Celtic legend Dalglish is unsure whether Postecoglou would be willing to swap competing for trophies at Celtic for the possibility of fighting relegation.

“They’d be stupid not to ask him, but as someone said, it’s manners to wait until you’re asked. Even if he was asked, I don’t know if he would go," Dalglish told the Daily Record.

“Are you trying to say that Celtic isn’t as big an adventure as some of the clubs that were allegedly interested in him. Why would he go down to the Premier League to get relegated, or to one of the teams threatened with relegation? He’d rather be at Celtic looking to win trophies.

“But it always comes up, when you’re doing well, there’s always someone else interested. And so they should be.”
