After the Boston Celtics escaped a banged-up Miami Heat squad that started the game without Jimmy Butler and ended it without both Josh Richardson and Terry Rozier 110-106, former Celtics champ and current ESPN broadcaster Kendrick Perkins let it be known that he was a little nervous about what he saw from Boston on the court.
True, the Celtics have the best record in the league, and sit a full five games ahead of their nearest challenger in the Eastern Conference standings. But there are also shades of the same bad habits and poor play that saw Boston bounced from the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals by a healthier version of the Heat. Is Perkins right to call the Celtics out here, or is he simply looking for engagement on a team that’s been so good they are a little dull?
Big Perk made his case on a recent episode of ESPN’s “NBA Today”.
