Kelvin Fletcher floors fans with different appearance after admitting it gets 'funny looks'

Kelvin Fletcher has been surprising fans with his brand new look - and even admitted to getting 'funny looks' over the big change. The former Emmerdale star appeared on Lorraine Kelly's chat show today to chat about his upcoming role.

The actor, who is best known for playing Andy Sugden in the ITV soap, is set to appear in the upcoming play Jack Absolute Flies Again by Oliver Chris and Richard Bean and it has led to him growing his very own moustache for the role.

He spoke to Lorraine about his stage appearance as well as his book, Fletchers on the Farm, which will be out in October following the success of the family's BBC series which aired earlier this year.

"I think it's just really going to be an exciting year with lots of things coming out this year," Kelvin, 38, said. Then referencing his very different appearance, the dad-of-four added: "Starring in the national - I've got my moustache to prove it."

Kelvin, who won Strictly Come Dancing with Oti Mabuse in 2019, then went on to say: "I do get a few funny looks when I'm on the tube, I keep forgetting that I've got it and people are kind of doing a doubletake."

During his appearance on the show, @chrismo97348886 tweeted: "@kelvin_fletcher love the Freddie Mercury look." And @maidmarianuk commented: "#KelvinFletcheesTash #Lorraine i think @kelvin_fletcher tash could have its own twitter page lol. I hope to see the play soon."

The former soap star recently doubled his brood after his wife Liz gave birth to twins. The couple welcomed Maximus Crowther and Mateusz Kelvin in May, and already share daughter Marnie and son Milo.

And Liz has now revealed she had a 5am hospital dash before giving birth to their twin boys. The actress and voiceover artist, who married the former Emmerdale star in 2015, said she had feared Kelvin might not make it to her bedside in time for the birth.

She told Hello! magazine: "I woke up in the morning and my waters had broken. I rang the hospital and they said to come in. Kelvin had to stay with the kids, so I drove myself to the hospital, which is an hour away, at 5am.

"I was a bit panicky that Kelvin might miss the birth if it happened straight away. They did a scan and told me, 'It’s going to be today.'"

Recalling the moment they introduced the babies to their older siblings, Liz said: "Milo was like: ‘He’s heavy.’ Marnie was kissing them. It was so cute." Kelvin added: "Even though Milo is only three, he knew instinctively to be really gentle with them. They’ve become more grown up overnight. Marnie has been a great little helper."
