Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones stunned the crowd in a surprise appearance at Coldplay's first gig at the Principality Stadium on Tuesday.
The Welsh star was met by huge cheers from thousands of fans as he joined Chris Martin and the band at the end of a spectaular performance that saw Coldplay take on all of their best-known hits and newer material in the first of two sold-out performances on Tuesday and Wednesday. Kelly, from Cwmaman, took to the stage to perform a version of hit Dakota, with delighted fans singing along. And it wasn't the only nod to Wales in a jam-packed concert that saw Chris Martin try his hand at some Welsh and telling the crowd: "Thank you for welcoming us to your beautiful country, everyone knows Wales is the best place for singing in the world."
The near three-hour performance from Coldplay also saw a local join them on stage for Everglow, before Bridgend choir took centre stage at the end to lead the crowds into a rowsing rendition of Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau which could be heard from as far away as Grangetown and Riverside.
