Kell Brook trainer reveals Amir Khan plan and issues Shaun Porter comparison

Kell Brook's trainer Dominic Ingle has outlined the plan for the showdown with Amir Khan, making it clear his fighter won't actively look for a knockout blow.

The two rivals go head-to-head in their grudge match on Saturday at the Manchester Arena, bringing their long-running feud to a head.

Brook is well established as the favourite heading into the fight, given Khan 's long absence from the ring, and the general consensus is the bout is unlikely to go the full distance.

However, Ingle has made it clear that Brook will be fully focused on the task in hand and won't be dragged into searching for the stoppage - instead taking it if it comes but focusing on his boxing.

"For me, it's the same as any other fight. For Kell, as Amir has been getting into his head, badmouthed him for so long, he kind of winds Kell up but he knows that's the intention, to wind him up and make him lose the game plan," he told Bet365's Youtube channel.

"But he won't because Kell, he keeps himself to himself, you only see him fired up every now and again, when he's in that ring, he keeps it controlled, you don't ever see him losing control, he keeps it calm and knows to keep it calm.

"For me, there's no emotion. Kell will get him out of his system with sparring partners, which he has, and when he gets into that ring on fight night, he'll be calm, cool and collected. It should be an execution.

"In any fight, it's much easier to go out and box and if the stoppage comes, it comes, but if you go out with the intention of stopping somebody and it doesn't happen, then going back to boxing is very difficult. So the plan is always to box your way into position to get the stoppage but not just to have that as your sole intention, you can't do that, you can't just go out and start slinging bombs because you're going to get unstuck.

"That's why you have to take the emotion out of it and Kell is patient, you look at him in fights and he's very patient, he waits, you've never really seen him take someone out with one shot, it's always been a build-up and pressure, then he gets the shot that he requires.

"Porter, it was his first world title fight and he was more switched on for that than he'd ever been because the journey into that point was very difficult. That was one of the easiest camps because he knew that there was a lot on the line, he couldn't get it wrong and he was exemplary what he did.

"It's almost the same with Khan because it's been such a grudge match for so long, he's got the mindset, even though it was years ago, he's got the same bit between his teeth, he's got the same excitement and drive, as if he's fighting for another world title because this is the fight that he wanted.

"He's been rejuvenated in a way, it's been easy for him, he came in here a few days ago like he was skipping and laughing, it's been enjoyable, it's not been a grind, and I think mentally, as he's got older as well, he's better prepared for what he's got in the training and in the fight.
