In a video posted on Monday, the Kelce brothers expressed their condolences to the victims, their families, and the entire Kansas City community. They acknowledged the unfortunate events that transpired and thanked the local law enforcement and first responders for their swift action.
Travis Kelce also announced their intention to support the victims by sharing a link to the Kansas City Chiefs' emergency response fund for donations. He highlighted that the funds would go towards aiding the victims and their families, violence prevention, and mental health services. Travis himself donated $100,000 to assist two sisters affected by the shooting, while his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, contributed $100,000 to a family who lost a loved one in the tragedy.
Jason Kelce emphasized the unity and support shown by the Kansas City community in the aftermath of the shooting. He mentioned their plans to provide further assistance and support to those affected, indicating that they have some ideas in mind.
The shooting incident on Valentine's Day resulted in 22 injuries and one fatality, with over half of the injured being children. Three juveniles were initially detained by the police, with two remaining in custody facing gun and resisting arrest charges. The Kansas City Chiefs organization expressed deep sadness over the senseless violence and extended their sympathies to the victims and their families.
The Chiefs, along with the Hunt Family Foundation and the NFL, donated $200,000 to the emergency response fund. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, also shared messages of support and prayers for Kansas City in the wake of the tragedy.
