Keeping RB Najee Harris fresh should be top Steelers priority

Over the course of the last two seasons, no running back in the NFL has touched the football more times than Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris. Harris has a staggering 694 touches since coming into the league.

Thankfully, the second half of last season showed signs that Harris might be getting some help. The emergence of Jaylen Warren as a tandem running back not only helped the Steelers run game improve but took some heat off of Harris.

We all saw how stubborn head coach Mike Tomlin is when it comes to sharing the load at running back. He did it with Le’Veon Bell and it played a role in Bell doing everything he could to not come back to the Steelers. So it was great to see Tomlin give a little last season.

If the Steelers are planning to be more physical and run the football, it will have to be a two-headed rushing attack. I’ve always stood by the belief that if Bell hadn’t been forced to play through a groin injury for much of the season going into the AFC Championship game, The Steelers beat the Patriots.
