'Keep speaking' - Moises Caicedo explains Brighton transfer decision after Liverpool links

Moises Caicedo has admitted Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi played a key role in his decision to sign a new contract with the Seagulls.

Strongly linked with Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea during the January window, Caicedo publicly announced his desire to leave the club but was denied his wish as Brighton rejected two bids from Arsenal - the latter of which is believed to have been in the region of £70million.

Putting an end to talk over his future, the Ecuadorian midfielder last week agreed a new deal at Brighton until 2027 to further strengthen his side's hand when it comes to future negotiations with bidding clubs.

Opening up on his decision to commit to his current employers, the 21-year-old credited the role of manager Roberto De Zerbi for making this possible. "Yeah. I'm so happy with him, here, and playing every week," he told Sky Sports. "It's amazing to show my football. With Roberto [De Zerbi], he speaks a lot and it helps every player here. That's why we show our football on the pitch and we are playing well. That's why I signed a new contract.

"It's amazing," he added on the interest that has surrounded his performances for club and country this campaign. "Before, I watched on TV [the Premier League] and now I'm playing and people are speaking about me. I'm happy about that and I train well every day to show my best football for the people. Keep speaking about me."
