Keep or sell: Choose which Newcastle United players should leave in transfer window

When Eddie Howe was asked about the absence of senior players from the squad following the Carabao Cup win over Bournemouth, his response underlined one of the Magpies’ key priorities going into the January transfer window.

The likes of Loris Karius and Ryan Fraser, the latter of whom having not made a competitive appearance since October, were left out of Newcastle’s return to action following the World Cup break, though Howe admitted the absentees were ‘fine’ and not injured.

It’s a trend that is likely to continue should the Magpies fail to trim their squad over January, as established names struggle to find minutes in a group that’s only going to get stronger as windows pass. Should United continue their impressive Champions League push into the new year, minutes for fringe players will become even more rare.

So while excitement understandably builds around possible incomings on Tyneside, it’s a fair bet that the exit door could prove to be just as busy as the entrance - and arguably just as important.

As we wait and see who stays and who goes, we thought we’d pass the question on to you. Should the club cash in on Chris Wood? Is Jamal Lewis' time up? Complete our Keep Or Sell tool above and have your say on the club’s January business.

And don’t forget to comment below with your hopes for the window as we’d love to hear your thoughts on who should stay and who you think Newcastle should target to strengthen their push for European football next season.
