Love Island star Kaz Crossley has broken her silence after she was detained in a Dubai jail over a video of herself with a white substance in 2020.
The influencer has now taken to Instagram to addressed the video, taken in Dubai, saying it was taken at a time when "I definitely didn't love myself".
Kaz said: "I owe it to myself to get closure about this," as she confirmed it was her in the clip, and said she's "ready to move forward."
The TV star was detained at Abu Dhabi airport on Monday and released on Friday, with her reps confirming she cooperated with officials.
Speaking in an Instagram video, Kaz said: "So in 2020 I was in Dubai and I was filmed, it was me in the video. No one forced me to do that. It was a time in my life where I definitely didn't love myself at all. And this is reflected in what I was doing to my body and who I surrounded myself with."
Kaz described how she was on her way to a "dream job", when she was stopped after taking a flight to Abu Dhabi.
"I wasn't thinking. I was then detained in Abu Dhabi and kept in custody from Money through to Friday which is when they released me."
"I was very accepting of the situation," Kaz said.
Going back to the video, the influencer described how it was leaked a year after it was taken, and "completely destroyed" her mental health, with her family worried about her, and the star being trolled.
Since then Kaz said she has had to do "a lot of healing," and is now in a much better place.
"I am very confident now standing up for my own truth, I have made mistakes. I have made a lot of mistakes but I will not allow my past to define who I am now.
"I am really, truly falling in love with myself and the person I am now. I am surrounding myself with people who make me feel so seen, so safe, supported," She said.
Speaking about how her time in jail had changed her, Kaz said she "feels so grateful", and is grateful for her loved ones, pillow and toothbrush.
Thanking her followers for their support, she said: "I am ready to put closure on this situation, finish this chapter of my book."
Kaz finished third on Love Island in 2018 with Josh Denzel, who she subsequently split from, and is set to feature on Channel 5's The Challenge.
She run combat classes and on Monday got back to work running her Muay Thai classes, posting a photo with her beginner's class.
