Katy Perry breaks her silence on awkward Coronation moment she just can't live down

Katy Perry has spoken out about the viral moment she could not find her seat for King Charles's Coronation at Westminster Abbey earlier this month.

The pop star, who also performed during the historic royal ceremony, immediately went viral on social media as she wandered around in search for her seat while also asking other guests for their help to locate it.

And when asked about the moment by Entertainment Tonight following Sunday evening's episode of American Idol, Katy looked into the camera with a deadpan expression as she reassured everyone: "Well, I just want everybody to know, thank you so much for your concern. I found my seat."

The mother-of-one, who was dressed as Elastigirl from The Incredibles for the show's Disney night, added: "You know, the memes are meme-ing, and I love it. When you look when you look one way for fifteen seconds it's just all of a sudden, the internet takes over."

After the slight hiccup in finding her seat, Katy kept the audience of 20,000 royal fans entertained as she took to the stage and sang through her most famous hits, accompanied by eccentric set designs, an incredible light show and pyrotechnics.

While she witnessed the ceremony in a stunning lilac ensemble, she changed into an eye-catching Vivienne Westwood vast gold lamé ballgown for her performance.

She beamed as she thanked the new King for giving her the privilege to stay at Windsor Castle with her mum, Pentecostal pastor, Mary Perry.

Katy later added snaps from the evening to her Instagram, and her husband and former Pirates of the Caribbean actor Orlando Bloom sweetly gushed over her in the comments, telling her that he felt "immensely proud."

"Immensely proud of you my love, you always bring the light," he wrote, to which Katy replied: "Our light."

Meanwhile, while she performed during the Coronation, she was forced to miss a week of her American Idol hosting responsibilities and was replaced temporarily by Alanis Morissette. Katy's fellow judge Lionel Richie also missed the show due to his responsibilities at the Coronation and was replaced by hitmaker Ed Sheeran.

Viewers were such a fan of icon Alanis, that they called for her to replace long-time judge Katy on the show, especially since the I Kissed A Girl songstress has been at the centre of the show's big scandals in recent weeks.

In particular, Katy was slammed for mum-shaming talented auditionee Sara Beth Lieb, who eventually quit the show, and made her feelings known towards the superstar's comments towards her in a tell-all TikTok.

Meanwhile, Sunday night's semi-final saw fan favourite Wé Ani lose her place in the final three to Colin Stough, with viewers taking to social media to blast the show as "fixed".
