Katie Zacharia's White House exit prompted a new theory on Monday, 19 October, when commentator Joel Pollak suggested she had 'irritated influential people'.

His account offered no evidence that political rivals had engineered her removal. Zacharia left her role as President Donald Trump's press secretary on Friday, 16 October, five days after starting the job in Washington.
